Nothing to Lose

Cornyn, Other Republicans Push For Biden Administration To Expand Critical Race Theory In Schools [More]

Talk about living proof of Quigley’s assertion:

“The argument that the two parties should represent opposed ideals and policies, one, perhaps, of the Right and the other of the Left, is a foolish idea acceptable only to doctrinaire and academic thinkers. Instead, the two parties should be almost identical, so that the American people can ‘throw the rascals out’ at any election without leading to any profound or extensive shifts in policy” (Georgetown University Professor Carroll Quigley, Tragedy and Hope, 1966.)

It’s not like this rascal needs to worry about being thrown out anytime soon, and by the time he does, I’m sure he’s done plenty of favors that should pay off in future gigs. Meanwhile, it’s like these Swamp guys are doing their best to break up the wave for those who DO have to run in November.

Speaking of Serious Misfires

The Supreme Court’s gun ruling is a serious misfire [More]

This from a Vichycon stooge who advocates:

Gun control advocates who want to square their policy preferences with the Constitution should squarely face the need to deconstitutionalize the subject by repealing the embarrassing amendment.

and:

Republicans Better Off Losing by Landslide

Funny he should mention “The Second Amendment is the only one in the Bill of Rights with a preamble” without acknowledging the Bill of Rights itself has a Preamble that makes clear what Founding intent was:

“THE Conventions of a number of the States, having at the time of their adopting the Constitution, expressed a desire, in order to prevent misconstruction or abuse of its powers, that further declaratory and restrictive clauses should be added: And as extending the ground of public confidence in the Government, will best ensure the beneficent ends of its institution.

It has “restrictive clauses” against the government.

Names That Should Live in Infamy

The Republicans who joined Democrats in voting for the bill were Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and Sens. Richard Burr of North Carolina, Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia, Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, Susan Collins of Maine, John Cornyn of Texas, Joni Ernst of Iowa, Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Rob Portman of Ohio, Mitt Romney of Utah, Thom Tillis of North Carolina, Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania, Todd Young of Indiana, and Roy Blunt of Missouri. [More]

Of these, two [three] are retiring and the only one who needs to run for reelection now is Murkowski, who also voted to convict Trump in his second impeachment trial and to confirm Biden pick Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court.

We’ve talked about her before — plenty. I believe she will make a perfect object lesson to defeat, provided a sufficient number of gun owners want to actually do something about it instead of standing there and bleeding.

Meanwhile, well-heeled Stupid Party Vichycon luminaries think it’s a smart idea to rub the betrayal in our faces before the presumed “red wave.”

‘Staunch Supporters of the Second Amendment’

The U.S. Senate voted Tuesday to advance a new bipartisan gun control bill in a procedural move that saw 14 Republicans support firearm restrictions. [More]

What did anyone expect? Courage and principle from career poltroons?

I can’t wait to see the superlatives NRA will use when describing them in its next endorsement.

UPDATES

And So It Begins

Mehmet Oz, the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania, is quietly shifting his campaign messaging away from former President Trump as he transitions into what’s likely to be one of the most hotly contested Senate elections of the midterms. [More]

I’m shocked…shocked!

Wait ’til ol’ Mehmet says he thinks the 2020 election was valid.

The Donald is so good at firing ’em because he’s so lousy at picking ’em in the first damn place.

‘Republicans,’ Pay Heed

John Cornyn, top Republican negotiator on gun package, booed at Texas GOP convention [More]

As I said:

Even if the angry feedback is scaring you into backing off, the trust has already been broken.  Way to take the fire out of bellies.

You hearing this Mitch? Lindsey?

You geniuses really want to break up the wave before it happens?

Well, he started it.

Too Little Too Late

Bipartisan Negotiation On Gun Control Bill Stalled [More]

Let’s hope “Are you nuts?” is making an impact.

Yeah, but you know what, guys? Even if the angry feedback is scaring you into backing off, the trust has already been broken.

Way to take the fire out of bellies.

UPDATE

‘I’m through talking’: top Republican negotiator walks out of Senate gun talks – John Cornyn says he is heading back to Texas, dimming hope of vote on bipartisan gun safety bill before July recess [More]

Yep. Somebody’s been hearing from p!$$ed off constituents and now wants to appear forceful and principled…

Gowdy’s Wrong Questions about the 2nd Amendment Preclude Getting Right Answers

Gowdy should know all that, but again, we’re dealing with someone who presents the illusion of being “conservative.” [More]

“If they can get you asking the wrong questions, they don’t have to worry about the answers.”

Neocon-Approved ‘Gun Control’

Straw-buyer cases are almost never prosecuted unless they are part of a big organized-crime investigation. “Lie and try” cases — in which prohibited buyers attempt, often successfully, to beat the background-check system — are almost never prosecuted at all, which is why Hunter Biden is not in prison on federal gun charges. Possession cases are routinely dismissed without prosecution. [More]

So enforce existing Intolerable Acts?

I take it we can’t count on your support?
