Tell me about the worst gun you’ve ever bought. I’m bored sitting in this dialysis chair [More]

As is no secret around here, I’m not a hardware guy (more of a bad pun guy) and have very few posts on guns per se as there are plenty with more qualified insights. I do wonder how many of the firearms being singled out would not have been included had they been used in a successful DGU.

Safe Storage

The bill does not force any retailer to provide firearm storage, nor does it micromanage the agreement between them and a firearm owner… Additionally, the bill does not mandate storage by any firearm owner, nor does it provide a pathway for others to do so without the owner’s consent. [More]

Those would have been my two main concerns.

I guess I’m lucky this is not a situation I’ll likely find myself in. You know, because I don’t own guns– evil, nasty things always going around killing people

Not Exactly Matt Dillon* But So What?

Now, Dhillon has made no mention of being an experienced shooter. She’s not pretending that she’s an expert shot or anything like that. She’s learning. However, people criticizing her for not being an expert was troubling, to say the least. [More]

That there’s no shortage of d!ck gun owners feeds another meme.

The first time I shot a 1911, I missed a Foster’s Lager can.

If that makes you feel superior to me, I’m sure glad it’s not your life I’m living.

* It makes me feel old to have to explain I’m talking about the character, not the actor.

Speaking of Critical Infrastructure…

The Post has sought comment from Beretta and Ruger. [More]

Now seek one from NSSF and NRA, and ask them to articulate their positions on this and ask if they see any potential Second Amendment concerns legislation could be needed to address.

And Another One Gone, and Another One Gone, Another One Bites the Dust

Firearms manufacturers that closed down operations and filed for bankruptcy in 2025 included SCCY Industries LLC, whose assets were seized by the Volusia County Tax Office of Florida at its Daytona factory on March 11, 2025, for non-payment of tax debts of almost $250,000… And now, struggling firearms maker and dealer Custombilt Firearms Manufacturing LLC has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy after battling the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives over its license in 2023 and 2024. [More]

So, unlike Big Rock, they’re both being shut down by governments headed by “pro-gun” administrations…?

Enemy Strength

Republican women are 14% more likely to own guns than Democrat men. [More]

That may not be a fair metric since one party knows how to define genders. Still, it’s telling.

And it also illustrates why new gun owners are nothing to crow about.

In terms of total numbers, I wouldn’t be starting any civil wars if I were that outgunned…

The Phantom Menace

Gun that killed Charlie Kirk… [More]

Words have meaning. Does “conservative” Fox News really not know any better?

…is WWI-era rifle that may be untraceable…

Before serial numbers were a thing…? So “ghost guns” had always been (and still are!) “in common use at the time” until treasonous prohibitionists started defecating all over “shall not be infringed”…?

HHS Report Ignores ‘Gun Health’

Kennedy’s health commission leaves guns out of its 20-page report [More]

I agree with critics that it should have mentioned guns, but not for the same reasons: If it purports “to help parents improve their children’s health,” it ought to include resources for development appropriate firearms training.

Another One Bites the Dust

All in all, there is hardly any evidence that handgun waiting period laws make a difference in homicides or suicides… As far as suicides are concerned, they have no effect on either gun suicide rates or total suicide rates. [More]

Another prohibitionist bit of calculated misdirection, that is…

Everybody here is totally aware of Gun Facts and relies on it as a go-to resource, right?

Following a Long Tradition

Now, the question is why? Plenty of gun companies have a page for “the only ones”, but those are typically companies like FN and Daniel Defense and others which offer select fire AR15 variants and in FN’s case, belt fed machine guns as well. But why Glock? They only make pistols. Pistols aren’t NFA or Hughes Act regulated (infringed). [More]

Because they’re suck-ups that will never pull a Barrett.

“The industry” has proven time and again what they’re interested in is their bottom line, from NSSF’s “partnership” with ATF, to the Rose Garden sellout, to Bill Ruger’s throwing other semi-autos under the bus.

Uncommon Use at the Time

Fact is, most firearms innovations have come from outside the government. [More]

Which is why “in common use at the time” can go from being a winning strategy in some circumstances to a trap more fundamental ones.

Face it: Every new idea starts as a monopoly.

Why our “gun rights leaders” seem deliberately indifferent to that is something you’ll have to ask them.

Their legal arguments are heavy on self defense and light on the militia, too.
