Let the Punishment Fit the Crime

BFA testifies for SB 278 to permit monetary, punitive damages against cities with gun control [More]

The trouble is it’s ultimately paid for by the productive sector which typically doesn’t vote for Democrats. Personally, I’d like to see public canings, but I understand these things are done incrementally…

A Good First Step

A bill working its way through the Ohio legislature would allow residents to sue cities for punitive and/or monetary damages if they try to ignore the state’s preemption laws on guns. [More]

OK, but it’ll be the productive segment paying for the sins of the Democrats. Once that passes, do another making violators personally liable.

Speech and debate clauses weren’t intended to be a license for treason.

I remember getting derailed the last time I made that argument…

Locking Arms

Georgia judge declares city ordinance banning guns in unlocked cars as ‘unenforceable’ – Mayor Van Johnson says the city will continue enforcing the rule, as the judge’s decision likely only applies to the defendant [More]

Why some feel compelled to leave guns in their cars is left unaddressed. But by “enforcing” the mayor means authorizing men with guns to ignore state preemption and use violence to take citizens hostage.

Looks like Van the Man doesn’t much like the First Amendment, either. That’s a lot easier when you can ignore the Second with impunity.

Speaking of locking up guns, I wonder how many people dumb enough to vote for this guy think the cable goes around, not through…?

What, No Payback?

The City CONCEDED its ordinance violates state law.
Memphis admitted that every line of its handgun-carry ban, vehicle-storage rule, so-called “assault rifle” ban, and red-flag scheme is 100% illegal under Tenn. Code Ann. § 39-17-1314. (Order pp. 3, 9–11) The Judge called the ordinance “DEAD AS A DOORNAIL.” The Chancellor wrote that “The Ordinance and those who proposed it engaged in ‘virtue signaling,’” but “the Ordinance is as dead as a proverbial doornail as a matter of Tennessee law.” (Order p. 6) Simply put, the Memphis ordinance is entirely unenforceable. [More]

So what will hold them accountable, make them pay, and discourage future in-your-face infringements?

One Man Can Make a Difference

Ordinary Ohio citizen calls out illegal Cincinnati festival gun ban — and wins! [More]

This is advocacy activism at its finest.

Having seen the alternative, stories like this restore my faith and inspire me.

We all see ways every day where we can make a difference. Anyone who can’t think of any isn’t trying and anyone who doesn’t try isn’t helping.

Rules for Rules

Sen. Johnson introduces legislation to fix serious problems in Ohio… SB 278 seeks to add teeth to the law by giving individuals the power to seek punitive damages against cities that pass gun control measures… SB 279 would make it illegal for a business, state agency, or political subdivision from preventing an off-duty law enforcement officer from carrying a firearm. [More]

So those who would impose new laws on us willfully violate what’s already on the books with impunity? Yeah, punishing Democrats would be nice. Too bad it’s not the politicians themselves who have to pay but the poor tax slobs they already overburden.

As for off-duty cops, yeah, I know, it’s another carve out for “Only Ones,” but like I said in my Firearms News report exposing the illegal rule at Youngstown State’s stadium and citing existing Ohio Revised Code:

[T]he issue here is YSU officials do not have authority to override state preemption on gun laws and impose local prohibitions.

So, basically, we’re talking two new laws to enforce two existing laws.

And here you thought government was ludicrously overblown, redundant, and wasteful…

Criminals for Citizen Disarmament

They’re so desperate to enact gun laws they’ll break the law to do it!

Tyranny Preempted

This morning, AzCDL’s case against Pima County for its violation of Arizona’s firearm preemption law (A.R.S. § 13-3108) ended in victory for your rights! Judge Greg Sakall of the Arizona Superior Court in Pima County rejected the county’s motion to dismiss the case and granted our request for summary judgment. Judge Sakall ruled from the bench in our favor on all claims! [More]

Great. Now, what personal disincentives did he apply to keep Arizona grabtards from trying again?

‘Our Democracy’

The left wants to get rid of this system not for democracy’s sake, but so it can turn the U.S. into something it was never meant to be: A country where states don’t matter and an all-powerful central government, unencumbered by constitutional limits, has control of every aspect of our lives. [More]

The only time they scream about “home rule” is when they want to undermine preemption on guns.

Memphis Bull

“Why do you want us to not be safe? Why do you want us to be poor?… Why do you want to break this community?” Walker said. “Because where we are with this gun violence and these ridiculous laws we cannot sustain like this. We have to stake a stand on behalf of our government independence.” [More]

Why do you say mandated defenselessness makes people safe? Why do you say collectivism and dependency makes them prosperous? Who is committing the violence?

I guess if her constituents are dumb enough to vote for a gaslighting racist commie, they pretty much deserve what they get. The point is, the rest of us don’t.

Not Over by a Long Shot

The city of Gary, Indiana’s long-running lawsuit against major firearm manufacturers has been shot down by Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb, just a few days after the legislature gave its final stamp of approval to a bill that prohibits any cities or other political subdivisions from suing a firearm or ammunition manufacturer, trade association, seller, or dealer over the design, manufacture, importing or exporting, distribution, advertising, marketing, sale; or criminal, unlawful, or unintentional use of their products.
