Just Like the Founders Intended

A U.S. appeals court on Friday upheld Maryland’s licensing requirements for people seeking to buy handguns, saying the law remained valid even after a U.S. Supreme Court decision in 2022 that expanded gun rights. [More]

Anybody know which clause from Bruen Obama-appointee Barbara Milano Keenan cherry-picked to justify a clear prior restraint?

Enduring the Interminable

While we are gratified and encouraged by the recent victory in Harney County, it’s important to note that legal efforts to protect the most fundamental rights of gun owners are a long way from over. [More]

Unless the tunnel being dug is redirected, I’m not sure seeing light at the end of it would be a good thing.

Out with the Old

Iverson rolled over for virtually everything the far left wanted. Her “leadership” set back Oregon in ways that would be hard to calculate. [More]

It’s a pretty sad state of affairs when the best you can say about whoever will replace her is there’s a chance they may not be as bad.

In tangentially related news, it looks like the judge is seeing how the law can result in “disparate policing” and discriminatory enforcement.

Yeah? Well, I’m Not a Huge Fan of Gunkapo Quislings.

“I’m not a huge fan of it, personally,” Stucker said of the move. “As a gun store owner, it puts a little bit more liability on us.” [More]

What did Samuel Adams say…?

Is this guy really that stupid, first for talking to the media like they’re honest brokers, and then for throwing his customers under the bus? I want to be careful here because it would have been easy to make assumptions about another gun guy until Herschel took the time to put things in context.

I’ll put out some feelers to our friends at Grassroots North Carolina and see if they can shed any light. Because without finding mitigating circumstances, my kneejerk reaction is to urge gun owners to find somewhere else to go and let this business die.

Winning

Grass Roots North Carolina and gun rights supporters made history today. Senate Bill 41 cleared its final hurdle and will become law after both chambers of the North Carolina General Assembly voted to override Governor Roy Cooper’s veto. SB 41 is the first override of a Cooper veto since 2018 and the first-ever override of a vetoed gun bill in North Carolina. [More]

Overriding Governor Roy Cooper’s Veto

Today, Governor Roy Cooper vetoed Senate Bill 41, to repeal our Jim Crow-era pistol purchase permit law and to facilitate parishioners in defending churches against violent sociopaths.

Said GRNC president Paul Valone:

“As we predicted, anti-freedom Governor Roy Cooper wasted no time attacking the rights of gun owners. Worse, he attacked the ability of church-goers to protect themselves from attacks on religious institutions that are becoming all too common.

“It will be with great pleasure that GRNC will work to over-ride his veto of SB 41. Given that the bill passed by veto-proof supermajorities in both chambers of the legislature, we have every confidence that we will deliver defeat to his doorstep.”

Two Steps Forward

Grass Roots North Carolina won a major legislative victory today, as Senate Bill 41 – including both the church carry and pistol purchase permit repeal – passed in the NC House by a veto-proof majority. The bill now goes to the anti-gun Governor Roy Cooper, who will likely veto the bill within the 10 days allotted. [More]

It’ll be interesting to see how he spins opposing the representatives of the people.

A Crash Course in Politics

North Carolina House of Representatives Speaker Tim Moore, another state congressman, and Moore’s security were driving back to the state capital from an event when a vehicle repeatedly rammed into the back of them, the speaker’s spokeswoman said Thursday. [More]

Coincidentally, with quotation marks, if you like, this was the day after the House voted to repeal handgun purchase permits. In any case, it’s fair to question if this was garden variety ‘roid rage or if he was targeted

Check out the cheesy excuse Rep. Michael Wray gave for voting against the bill he originally sponsored– no doubt his earlier feigned support was to sucker the Fudds at election time. What a weasel.

Ultimately, there is no such thing as a “pro-gun Democrat.” Besides, it’s never been about guns anyway.

New Name, Same Role

You will never go broke betting on the hypocrisy of the left. In this case, the NAACP, NC Black Alliance and other advocacy groups claiming to represent Black Americans are backing (if you can believe this) a Jim Crow law. [More]

That’s because leftist advocacy issues will always take a back seat to the greater goal of securing a totalitarian monopoly of violence.

Besides, remember who the drivers were.
