Still Dithering

What’s to negotiate?

Ursula Get Your Gun

So Ursula, get your gun and make sure that everyone else gets theirs too. [More]

That’s the thing– when it comes to the people, she won’t, so by the time they’re forced to hand them out it’ll be too late.

This article is light on that, but the bottom line is, tech and drones notwithstanding, the men on the ground with rifles will be the ones controlling it.

We’re the Only Ones Armed Robbing Enough

In exchange for his repayment of the $3,500 that was stolen, the felony theft charges have been dismissed. [More]

So hes not a prohibited person now, like you or I would be if we ever sank so low?

Abusing a position of special public trust like that actually deserves more punishment than an ordinary person would get. Along with a good flogging.

We’re the Only Ones Knowledgeable Enough

5 deputies and officers sent to hospital after sheriff’s office says man intentionally blew up home… Because of Borja’s criminal history, the sheriff’s office also responded in a supporting role. [More]

Tell us more about that criminal history, and what the guy was doing out.

I’m sorry, I watched the video with the newschick with a nose ring and kind of lost track of everything else… Look, I’m old and never watch TV news, so I gotta ask: When did this become an acceptable professional standard?

I also don’t like to see cops with sleeve tats, so you’ll just need to forgive my intolerant social obsolescence.

So’s Your Old Man

DAVID MARCUS: Old Man Biden’s autopen pardons should be null and void [More]

So should the laws, orders, and appointments he signed.

A thought strikes seeing he is now apparently dying from advanced prostate cancer: if it’s treatable early on, why wasn’t it? My conspiracy theory is his handlers wanted him to win a second term and then die when his usefulness devolved into a liability, putting the controllable Kamala nominally “in charge” and having a hand-picked reliever warming up in the bullpen.

If I controlled the law enforcement investigation apparatus in this country, I’d quietly have some people looking into who knew what medical information and when they knew it.

Meanwhile, Over at the Religion of Peace…

Claremont McKenna’s Muslim Student Association had criticized the college’s choice of Rushdie in a May 2 statement, calling it “disrespectful” and out of line with the college’s commitment to inclusion. [More]

And nothing says inclusion like issuing ideological fatwas.

So much for “an open and welcoming space for everyone“…

Ah well, “misdirecting” on that is supported by history, text, and tradition… and I’m sure the word “rigorous” appplies to all those friendly faces.

Our Work is Done Here

Gun violence restraining order imposed against Carlsbad man linked to Madison, Wisconsin school shooter…Though criminal charges have not been filed against Alexander Paffendorf, 20… Paffendorf was detained by law enforcement and his home was searched. While no guns were found and no guns were registered to him, an emergency gun violence protective order was obtained late last year. [More]

And we all know those keep dangerous people from getting guns, don’t they?

An Age-Old Question

The text of the Second Amendment encompasses the purchase of firearms by 18-to20-year-olds, as the en banc majority below did not dispute, Pet.App.43a–44a, and as the majority was also forced to acknowledge, “the Founding era lacked express prohibitions on the purchase of firearms” by 18-to-20-year-olds. Id. at 30a. Indeed, the eighteenth century laws that come closest to reflecting a “Founding-era policy on age and firearms”—militia laws throughout the Nation obliging eighteen-year-olds to muster for militia service bearing firearms they were legally obligated to acquire for themselves—in fact “reflect the policy that eighteen- to twenty-one-year-olds should be armed.” Id. at 159a (Brasher, J., dissenting). That should have been the beginning and the end of any suggestion that Florida’s age ban “is consistent with this Nation’s historical tradition of firearm regulation.” New York State Rifle & Pistol Ass’n v. Bruen, 597 U.S. 1, 17 (2022). [More]

Story here.

Bingo. And about time.

With DeSantis backing NRA, what leg is Mark Glass still standing on?

A Little Something for Everyone?

Department of Justice Announces Settlement of Litigation Between the Federal Government and Rare Breed Triggers… The settlement includes agreed-upon conditions that significantly advance public safety with respect to FRTs, including that Rare Breed will not develop or design FRTs for use in any pistol and will enforce its patents to prevent infringement that could threaten public safety. Rare Breed also agrees to promote the safe and responsible use of its products. [More]

It’s a yuge step.

It’s also not “shall not be infringed.”
