NRA Settles Suits with Ackerman McQueen for $12 Million [More]
Boy, I didn’t get this in my inbox a moment too soon:

Notes from the Resistance

More than 2,000 residents were told to evacuate Tuesday afternoon after a large fire broke out at a recycling plant in Indiana, sending plumes of black smoke into the sky. The fire broke out in the City of Richmond, which is about 70 miles east of Indianapolis and near Ohio’s western border. [More]
Right next to the interstate that people traveling from the east need to take to get to the NRA Annual Meeting…
Funny, how recycling for the environment just put all those toxic pollutants into the atmosphere. I can’t wait to see the eco-disasters once we’re all forced into electric cars.

Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee signed an executive order to tighten background checks on Tuesday, marking a victory for gun reformers in the GOP-controlled state. Lee also called upon the state legislature to pass a “red flag” law that will make it easier to remove guns from people who pose a danger to themselves or others.
It’s the way of the Vichycon: Feining support when there’s something in it for you, but when the going gets tough, the rats get scurrying. This is ideologically the same as going AWOL when your brothers are under fire. What a despicable coward.
Time to resurrect an old Stieger quote:

It’s what the reports aren’t telling us that’s revealing.

Not to be confused with the Waynermobile…

From a chat I just had over at NRAAM:

Maybe I’m overthinking things, but under the circumstances, I’m guessing this is a real possibility. Then again, Trump is going to do what Trump is going to do, but I still bet his lawyers want to contain him as much as they can.
TENNESSEE’S LT. GOV. RANDY MCNALLY JOINS DEMOCRATS IN SUPPORT OF PASSING A RED FLAG LAW IN TENNESSEE BUT HE SHOWS NO SUPPORT FOR REAL CONSTITUTIONAL CARRY! [More]

That makes it fair to ask why Kevin McCarthy, the beneficiary of an A+ rating and endorsement from the National Rifle Association’s Political Victory Fund, is reportedly going out of his way to raise major bucks for someone who is undermining everything about the Second Amendment we’re told he believes in. [More]
At the very least, we ought to find out if the reports are true.
Mr. King advised that I was wasting my time looking for New York Attorney and that the NYSRPA and the NRA would not help legally. The call did not end well when I pressed Mr. King about those in our ranks turning customer data over to the government and law-enforcement agencies… hung up on me? I will address that conversation in a separate video post. [More]
I wonder how many members had and will have data compromised.

Expect Cotton, Coy, and LaPierre to tell NRA members at the Members’ Meeting in Indianapolis on April 15 that everything is going great, that “your NRA” is strong and effective, and that they expect to hand NY AG Letitia James a resounding defeat in court soon. Then expect the Board, on the following Monday, to approve the bylaw amendment allowing Cotton to serve another term as President, followed closely by his “unanimous” reelection to that office. [More]
And here some of us were worried.

Florida’s former NRA lobbyist, Marion Hammer, used to be a powerful force for gun rights. Sadly, that is no longer the case. [More]
The wackos, hillbillies, idiots, fruitcakes, and nuts have a point. Dissidents, malcontents, and enemies within all, according to her…
Here’s what she thinks of the general members that NRA’s existence depends on.
Kinda makes me want to wear something special at the upcoming annual meeting.

Sturtevant? The guy with the political courage and devotion to principle to conclude that being endorsed by as tepid a group as NRA was just too much for him to be associated with, so he colluded with them to have it taken down? Yeah, that’s a representative I want fighting the fight for me!
As for all of them, I wonder if anyone will ask them some unequivocal questions and not let them weasel out of things:
I’d also add a tangentially-related question, one not directly part of the “single issue,” but one that nonetheless is being used to undermine it:

Here are the questions VCDL asks different-level candidates.

What a mess! And this mess is because the NRA is so desperate for relevance that it chose to wing this effort without talking to knowledgeable people in Montana about the idea and effort. [More]
Gary Marbut of the Montana Shooting Sports Association exposes some heavy-handed blundering by the “800-pound gorilla” that failed to coordinate with the locals and account for the state constitution.
It’s not the first state group I’ve heard of with similar complaints. Now that they’re desperate to divert attention away from Wayne and the rubber stamp board and look like they’re doing something relevant, don’t be surprised to see more.

Removes the national rifle association from the list of entities authorized to grant certificates as instructors in small arms practice [More]
Can it get more in-your-face that this is about the politics of destruction than this? Among other things, this seems like a blatant punitive violation of the First Amendment. Then again, why would that slow down someone who believes they can get away with eviscerating the Second?
But OK, just make sure none of the “authorized” instructors got their certifications from NRA. Then again, those imposing this won’t mind if a shortage means New Yorkers can’t get permits– they’re no doubt counting on it.
Maybe the Moms can do the training from now on. They claim to be “commonsense gun safety” experts.
Any gun or ammunition supplier who arms New York state enforcement entities is giving aid and comfort to the enemy.
This, of course, is one more nose-thumbing at SCOTUS and its Bruen decision. It won’t stand unless we get court packing in the years it will take to go through the challenge and appeals process, and meanwhile, the state will have unlimited resources while the plaintiffs will have to scramble and compete for them.
What a POS Sean Ryan — and anyone who voted for him — is.

The National Rifle Association saw revenue continue to decline in 2021, when it collected $227 million, the lowest figure in a decade and a 20 percent drop from the year before, according to the group’s most recent IRS filing. Back in 2016, the organization took in a record $367 million. [More]
Bloomberg-“seeded” The Trace takes its mouth off his teat long enough to gloat.
That said, numbers don’t lie, and the board knows what it needs to do to begin to appeal to member confidence. Except Wayne has his fingers dug in and wrapped around the spine, lest he falls off the tiger and gets devoured.
