Except with more gun owners, more guns, and more widespread concealed carry, crime and violent crime is down, lower than it was then.

How much more evidence is needed that prohibitionists and Democrats (but I repeat myself) have been, are, and will be wrong on this I don’t know, as I’m not someone who would rule by emotions.
