A Tale of Two Broadcasters

Bernie, who is a radio contributor and analyst for the Browns, took the high road as he apologized to the organization for putting them in a tough spot, during his Monday night podcast… But he’s standing by his statement that he placed the bet for charity and didn’t think it would be an issue because he says he’s not an employee but an independent contractor with the team. [More]

And for that, the woke front office cowards presuming to hold themselves up as the paragons of ethics summarily and rudely discarded a man who has given them a lifetime of loyalty, saying his “services are no longer desired or needed.” This from a team management that played fast and loose with the draft rules to get Kosar when his services were desired and needed.

Meanwhile, “former NFL player turned broadcaster Jon Vilma … said that this country needs more gun laws. Many were surprised that Vilma went there during an NFL broadcast” and nobody in the league protested that he abused his venue access privileges to attack the rights of his countrymen. And this is a guy who was only suspended for his role in a “pay-for-performance/bounty program that endangered player safety over three seasons.”

I should say Vilma’s Saints bounty scandal — you know, the same team where guns are being stolen from parked cars. Right, moron, the country needs more gun laws.

A Sensitive Area

FEDERAL JUDGE GRANTS TRO IN SAF CHALLENGE OF NEW JERSEY GUN LAW [More]

I’m wondering at what point a judge is going to start sanctioning state defendants for clearly engaging in deliberate defiance and delays, and making it personal.

A Law Unto Themselves

The concern involves instances when a judge reverses a jury’s criminal conviction after naming themselves the 13th juror and then filing a motion for a new trial. The judge isn’t required to provide much explanation other than they believe the jury got it wrong based on errors made during the trial. [More]

Just don’t try the good kind.

US appeals court blocks ban on rapid-fire ‘bump stocks’ [More]

I’m looking into what this means for my case and plan on drafting something up soon.

In the meantime, seeing as how AP is telling everybody “The ban was instituted after a gunman perched in a high-rise hotel using bump stock-equipped weapons massacred dozens of people in Las Vegas in 2017,” I’m wondering what they know that the government evidently doesn’t.

Backlash sounds like the way to go.

Crack ‘Authorized Journalists’ Figure Out Why They Call Them ‘Bad Neighborhoods’!

CBS Philadelphia found many shootings are concentrated in just several neighborhoods, leaving behind a horrible toll of trauma for those living in those areas. [More]

Been looking at Neighborhood Scout again, have we?

So when the grabbers talk about owning a gun being more dangerous than not owning one, first of all, they’re talking about people who don’t actually own them, and second, if you’re not a scumbag criminal loser, their “statistics” don’t apply to you…? Including women…?

Making manipulative crap like this a carefully crafted lie?

Still Waiting for an Answer

However, for those like Hudson who do have these concerns, I’d offer a suggestion. If you feel this way, you should start pushing the lawmakers asking for your support to oppose gun control. [More]

We’re well aware of Republican betrayals and failures. That said, what kind of utter moron says they’re for the right to keep and bear arms and then backs Democrats, and what kind of two-faced opportunists support that?

Just because the enemy has guns is no reason to mistake them for our friends.

Return I Will to Old Brazil

In a news conference from Sao Paulo state, Lula accused Bolsonaro of encouraging the uprising by those he termed “fascist fanatics,” and he read a freshly signed decree for the federal government to take control of security in the federal district. “There is no precedent for what they did and these people need to be punished,” Lula said. [More]

Sure there is. It even looks like they’re using the J6 Playbook.

And not to say “I told you so,’ but:

This isn’t over. And we in the Land of the Second Amendment may learn a thing or two before it is… In an editorial comment-laced “news” story rife with loaded terms and leftist-sympathizing sentiment, The Washington Post tells us Jair Bolsonaro has flown to Florida. Don’t be surprised if that’s not enough for the Lula regime.

Tangentially related: It looks like the trade association rope-sellers can’t suck up hard enough and hit the ground running proposing new infringements. [More]

A Red Flag

Jones also declined to reveal details of the shooting, or say how the boy got access to the gun or who owns the weapon. “This is a red flag for the country,” Jones said. [More]

A red flag for the country as in he wants to mass confiscate guns without due process, or a red flag for the country as in everybody better take that as a signal of tyrannical intent and prepare accordingly?

Convenient, isn’t it, how they can use the little aberration’s age to mask relevant details that will prove to all but the fanatical and the stupid that this is not a “gun problem” and hardly representative of the country outside of “progressive” enclaves?

The Suitcase Nuke Option

One change in particular — which empowers a single lawmaker to launch the process of ousting the Speaker — is giving heartburn to lawmakers in both parties, who fear a hard-line group of conservatives will use it repeatedly to browbeat McCarthy into keeping crucial must-pass bills off the floor. [More]

Consider that a silver lining on a much larger cloud.

[Via Jess]

UPDATE

An interesting speculation making the rounds to explain why the powers behind him would not quit: McCarthy has been designated to be the next president, not because he’s electable but because the “Swamp” needs to replace Biden sooner rather than later, realizes Harris is an utter disaster who needs to be “persuaded” to step aside, and the Speaker being third in line would make a controllable “Republican’s” succession the option least likely to provoke unmanageable resistance… and pave the way for a Democrat victory in ’24 with such a weak incumbent.

Obviously, there’s no way to validate any of this, but it will be interesting if things start to shape up that way.
