We Have Top Men Working On It Right Now

I wanted to reach out and let you know that experts from the Western States Center, one of the nation’s premier organizations working to counter political extremism and violence, has experts tracking the upcoming January 6th hearing in Congress this week, and the start of the seditious conspiracy trial against five members of the Oath Keepers including Stuart Rhodes. Can they spell his name right?

Top…men.

It’s Only a Movie…It’s Only a Movie…

We never get tired of watching movies, but we often watch scenes play out that aren’t realistic. Their approach is believable, but the way they go about solving problems defies logic, engineering, and sometimes physics. Take deadbolt locks as an example. When a character shoots a deadbolt lock, it disintegrates and the door busts wide open. It looks good on screen, but what happens when you shoot a deadbolt in real life? [More]

And here I was thinking nobody knows guns like Hollywood.

Jeez, the next thing you’re going to be telling me is experienced operators don’t rack the slide to load a round into the chamber for effect right before springing into action…

At least tell me Angelina Jolie can really curve bullet trajectories…?

Anyway, the featured article with the accompanying video was interesting and fun. If they ever do a follow-up, I’d like to see them address why they shot from a bench at a distance instead of, like TV cops always do, from a couple of inches away.

We’re the Only Ones Excuse-Making Enough

“The number of guys who say, ‘I don’t agree with what’s going on here, but I’ve got three years to retire,’ it’s heartbreaking,” he told podcast host Dan Bongino. [More]

Gee, they should have tried that defense at Nuremberg.

They get no sympathy from me.

I’ve quit jobs before when I couldn’t stomach what was going on. I’ve refused to do things that could have gotten me fired when they conflicted with my principles. All with a family to support and no guaranteed lifeline visible.

And I’ve known men who have put their careers on the line to expose institutional corruption.

AMA Assault Science Weapon of Choice in Mass Shillings

Mass public shootings in the US account for a small fraction of all firearm-related homicides, but have an outsized role in stoking the public’s concern with firearm violence. [More]

Yeah, thanks to elites-funded hysterical “agenda science” amplified by an equally hysterical (and reliably ignorant) DSM.

Doctrinaire disarmament propagandists Philp J. Cook and John Donahue (Piled Higher and Deepers each) sure use a lot of words to spook the herd on a threat that takes fewer lives than fists and feet. And the gunquacks (funny, we were just talking about them) at the equally agenda-driven AMA are delighted for another chance to posture and preen as leaders.

Those are my broad strokes on the matter. I’m hoping our friends Miguel A. Faria, Jr., M.D. and the good docs at DRGO decide to give us something more scholarly to push back with…

Hat tip to John Richardson, who sent me this information, and has put together quite a nice write-up that factors in Bruen. This is one of the things I like about those in “our movement” who do it right– the object is to help each other fight the best fight possible.

Sometimes, the old ideas are the best ones!

I don’t have time to check political sympathies on all of them, but it’s instructive to note the Chair and the two Vice Chairs were all appointed after Biden took office…

The gunquacks for due process-free prior restraints and confiscations are gonna have a field day with this one!

That’s this hate-filled domestic enemy who is trying to criminalize his political opponents

This is a noisemaking publicity move to turn out the useful idiot blue vote in advance of the midterms. As such, expect it to die the same death as its arm-waving predecessor.

For now.  The violence monopolists are working toward the day when they no longer need half measures.

What do they think the young worthies were counting on?

I don’t suppose with all these extra safety measures management says they take if they’d care to offer a guarantee to those they require to be unarmed:

Über Alles

NBC News spoke to six drivers from around the U.S. and Australia who said they are worried they’re being used as unwitting “drug mules,” ferrying across town what they believe may be narcotics while doing work for Uber Connect, a courier service the tech company started early in the coronavirus pandemic. At least they know they’re not delivering guns because that would be against company policy.

What did we learn?

Those privileged commie kids sure have hostile victim attitudes instilled in them by the cultural Marxists, don’t they? I kind of wonder if you got one of them alone and asked them to flesh out what specific overt acts of white racism have been committed against them personally, you’d get a lot of this:

An Open Book

Patti and Bugsy had lived, loved, and visited hundreds of worlds during their 100 years together. They were I Wons and the genetically engineered married team’s business was discovering new flora and fauna, ancient technology from dead civilizations that generated massive revenues for the Invisible One Thousand Corps’ war against the tyrannical Planetary Alliance. I’ve noted before how I have so little time these days for one of my great loves– reading for pleasure. Science fiction is one of the genres I wish I had more time for, the good stuff, I mean. Longtime readers know I have an affinity for the works of guys like Heinlein, Niven, Pournelle, Lem, Clarke, Asimov, Herbert

Time was I’d hoped to try my hand at fleshing out a few ideas of my own, but again, it was never a burning priority enough for me to really devote myself to the task, which is what’s required to do it right. So I’m looking forward to making time for this freedom-themed work by colleague James Russell Bailey, who did devote himself.

Now that I’ve bought a Kindle copy I’ll have some bedtime reading– and Sweetie is flying out to visit her sister in a few days so I won’t even need to pull the covers over my head to keep the light from disturbing her.
