Bringing Home the Bacon

Key House GOP moderate Don Bacon won’t seek re-election [More]

So, a Republican adopting Antifa language and calling MAGA “Nazis” is what we’re calling “moderate” these days…?

At least he was OK on guns

But then he went and played right into Democrat hands to undo it all by supporting “expanding legal immigration and opening pathways for immigrants to earn U.S. citizenship or a legal status, including those in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.”

Police Officers Protest Pride After Being Barred From Marching With Guns [More]

I agree with the organizers that no one group should have superior rights.

I also think, since they’ve made the decision to forego their rights and infringe on the rights of others, there should be no taxpayer-funded armed presence protecting the marchers.

Learning from the Past

He was confirmed dictator, restored the power of the Senate that had been crippled by the populares, and reorganized the state according to the old laws and traditions of the Republic, the mos maiorum. Having done so he abdicated the dictatorship, became a private citizen… [More]

Kinda reminds me of another leader who followed a similar path…

This is the latest from Dr. Miguel Faria, whose scholarship as an historian and leadership in liberty continues to impress.

‘Next Best Win’

The big beautiful bill is a dud to gun owners and second amendment advocates. There is nothing whatsoever in it for us. And the influencers who used the phrase “next best win” have to live with the shame of having used talking points handed to them by someone, we still don’t know who. [More]

Methinks “No Compromise” GOA

In any case, a lot of gun owners aren’t buying it (scroll up to see thread), especially if Repubs. could ignore the Democrat Parliamentarian on EV mandates, which shows the blaming and deference to be fraudulent ploys.

I just knew the Stupid Party would find some way to douse fire in bellies before the midterms.

Oh, but if Democrats win, we’ll lose our guns!!!

Will “we”?

Meet the New NRA

Well. gentlemen I can’t tell you what what a pleasure it’s been for me to have President Bachenberg and Executive Vice President Hamlin talking to real NRA members with real questions. We couldn’t get to them all. So, if if you like what you saw here tonight you need to go to nra.org/townhall… [Watch at 56:06]

Except entering that url in the search bar redirects to https://membership.nra.org/recruiters/join/XR047644 which doesn’t give you the opportunity to ask any more questions. Maybe I’ll try another way:

I had to do a post instead of a reply because for reasons of its own, NRA did not publicize the “town hall” on X or Facebook.

These guys are like Wayne LaPierre without the skilled slickness.

Justice Filing Brief in Illinois Gun Ban Case a Long Overdue Change in Course

Still, the brief adds some important points that an ultimate Supreme Court decision will need to consider: Among recognized “uses by law-abiding citizens for lawful purposes” are “self-defense, target shooting, and public defense,” that last category touching on the core purpose the Framers had in mind as articulated in the first 13 words of the Second Amendment. My latest from Firearms News looks at a long called for DOJ action in support of the Second Amendment that matches its new words.

AAR Redux

In this episode of Armed American Radio, host Mark Walters discusses the implications of a proposed merger between the ATF and DEA, emphasizing the potential threats to gun rights and the Second Amendment. Joined by David Codrea, they explore the historical context, current political climate, and the importance of maintaining the ATF as a standalone agency. The conversation highlights concerns over increased militarization of federal agents, the conflation of gun ownership with drug crimes, and the need for representation from the gun owner community in discussions about gun laws. Returning to Form

Got back from my trip late last night (early this morning). I typically don’t post here on weekends, but I have an article announcement.

  • I see the NFA brouhaha over the Senate Parliamentarian. Was anyone surprised?
  • Despite best laid schemes, I did not “attend” the NRA webinar. I tried, but being on my phone I couldn’t make it work. I followed the link they emailed me but it then said I had to download an app, which I did, but when I went to rejoin the meeting it said I needed to enter a password, which I never established. I clicked on the link for needing help and it said it would send a code to my email address. I tried that twice and no dice. After spending 20 minutes and then noting the meeting was already 10 minutes underway, I said “Screw it,” and watched an episode of Rawhide on Pluto TV instead.
  • I have a new article at Firearms News that posted in my absence. I’ll do my usual announcement tomorrow.

UPDATE

Here’s the “Town Hall” on YouTube:

Slow Going Ahead

Where to begin?

Relatives flew in last night and are staying at our place for a week. Meanwhile, wife and I have to leave them here tomorrow for an out-of-state weekend because her niece is getting married. Then my sister comes in on the 1st from AZ and will be here through the 7th. I have big family doings on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th, with me hosting a horde on Independence Day… I ran out of gas. I had a flat tire. I didn’t have enough money for cab fare…

I still have one article in at AmmoLand and one at Firearms News I’ll publicize if they post before we leave tomorrow morning at o-dark-thirty, and when we get back there’s a deadline on my next American Handgunner piece…

This is all my way of saying please hold off on emails, news tips, comments, and death threats until I give the “All Clear,” otherwise I fear it will be a wasted effort for you. I’ll try to get to some of the tips currently in the inbox and will post comments received up to quitting time this evening, but after that everything will need to wait for me to be able to get to it.

A Half-A$$ed Attempt

Top Biden aide admits to Congress she directed autopen signatures without knowing who gave final approval [More]

Enough. She didn’t just operate it on her own. Who told her to run a document through? Put them on the hot seat.

Who “authorized” her? Who are the “members of the inner circle”? Why hasn’t she been threatened with contempt unless she gets specific with “So-and-so directed me to have this signed?”

This could undo every law, every appointment, every EO going back to who knows when? Are Republicans ever going to strap ’em on and act like this is the existential spiritual and physical war that it is?

Oversight never played real hardball with Fast and Furious, either.

CTRL+P(ain) : far-right and 3D weapons, a new frontier of political violence – The incident reflects an alarming global trend: the rise of right-wing digital extremism and the increasing access to technology to manufacture undetectable weapons. So, it sounds like it would be in everybody’s interest if you stopped trying to shove collectivist controls down everybody’s craws, admitted “gun control” is an unworkable non-starter, and focused on securing the Blessings of Liberty…

Just a thought…
