Without warning, hundreds of noncommissioned officers were ordered via email to report to the recruiting school at Fort Knox, Kentucky, in less than a week, with hundreds more set to start at the school in December — a sudden unexpected move by the Army as the service scrambles to boost its recruiting force by 800 by the end of the year. “It’s a dark and dangerous time for Jews right now,” Panitch, who is the only Jewish American lawmaker in the Georgia legislature, said. “I’ve heard from people in the community who are afraid who have talked about other types of self-defense, including firearms,” Panitch said. “I have upgraded my weapons training as a result of what’s going on. “Using a Palestine passport, Abuayyash returned to the United States in June 2019. In January 2020, Abuayyash applied for an Application for Asylum and for Withholding of Removal, which is still pending. In August 2023, Abuayyash was approved for an employment authorization in the United States, allowing him to work in the U.S. until August 1, 2025. Then there’s this:
And then we scan them, right? But as far as I know, we are the only customer of Adobe Acrobat that actually pays extra money to have search capability taken out of that software.
I see some influencers treating this like a newly admitted database violation “Gotcha.” I must not be grokking something because this has been out there for years:
How can a database be “non-searchable”? Trick question: The system can’t really be considered a database. (There is a reason the ATF uses the phrase “data systems” instead). There is no ability to search the text of a file, and no effort is made to tag files with identifiers that could later be used to sort and search. “We compare it to an electronic card catalog system, where records are digitally imaged, but not optimized for character recognition,” ATF spokesman Corey Ray says.
Am I completely missing a point?

To each his own, I guess, and no offense intended if you’re inked, but I have to admit the practice is something I’ve never understood. I let feral sons Uday and Qusay know growing up that getting one was an adult decision, meaning my expectation was that they’d then be able to provide for themselves. And the same went for earrings (if they got one there’d better be a pirate ship outside), piercings, body mods…
Back in a previous life when I was helping nonprofits raise funds through fireworks sales, one potential customer I was recruiting had an organization for helping former gang members remove facial tattoos so they could become more employable.
I’m reminded of a punchline from a joke I heard around a campfire over 40 years ago.

But there are others in power who know perfectly well what the implications of “10 orders we will not obey” are, and that’s something they cannot allow to be considered. That it could spread scares the hell out of them, no doubt because there are some orders in Oath Keepers’ list they retain the power to issue when it suits their purposes. So, any thought of disobeying them must be destroyed – along with anyone daring to spread the idea that the oath is to the Constitution, not to a regime and its unlawful orders. [More]
