Notes from the Resistance
A bill introduced after a mass shooting in Maine would require the Army to use state crisis intervention laws to remove the weapons of a service member who is deemed to be a serious threat to themselves or others, U.S. Sen. Susan Collins, the bill’s sponsor, said Monday. [More]
“Deemed” how? What part does due process play?
And if he’s a “serious threat,” will he still have physical access to the public?
And yeah, every time you donate through WinRed, the Vichycons get their cut.

Prior restraints on unalienable rights by entities with no delegated authority don’t violate, transgress, or hinder…?

A handful of antis and Fudds repeating tired old lies was enough to get the Department to cave. As for their excuse that it was too soon after the Lewistown shooting, the question not being asked is what does a known nutjob going ballistic after being left alone by fearful authorities have to do with peaceable citizens and their lawfully owned rifles– and will the time ever come when prohibitionists don’t object to such training? If the maniac rammed his car into a group of people, would Maine cancel drivers ed classes? [More]
Ceding to prejudice, ignorance, and fear is no way to run a department.
“I would like to know what they did that was illegal. I would like to know what they did, in detail if folks would like to share, what they did that was wrong, that infringed on another person’s right. Holding a rally, and even holding a rally with guns, is not illegal.” [More]
Democrats believe in denying rights to those they don’t like. Speaking as the type of person they categorize as a dangerous fascist and hater, it’s curious that I defended the rights of the Stone Mountain commie racists — as long as they didn’t cross the line.
Post this quote to the Twitter account of every opportunistic Democrat rabble rouser condemning Rep. Libby:
“Yes, I’d give the Devil benefit of law, for my own safety’s sake!”
I got a series of emails from the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife regarding my Freedom of Access Act request for documentation leading to the decision to cancel an “AR rifles” safety class.
It looks like the sent me a lot of what I asked for but I’ll be going through everything this weekend to see and then writing a follow-up report.
Maine lawmakers call on Cabela’s, Kittery Trading Post to stop selling ‘assault rifles’ [More]
Well, yeah, because “gunman, Robert Card, bought one of his weapons, a handgun, at the Cabela’s in Scarborough.”
Don’t worry– the grabbers’ll come back to their initial goal in due time:

The well-funded pro-Article V Convention lobbyists have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars in both states over the past ten years to no avail. It appears that the more money they spend, the fewer votes they get. [More]
Don’t fall for the Con-Con con.
That leaves a potential conflict, as duly enacted existing law, which mandates “The commissioner shall establish a program for training individuals in the safe handling of firearms,” does not add a proviso saying “except for firearms that Democrats don’t like.” And the truth about that is all of them, as the Fudds will find out when they’re no longer needed. [More]
Who knew “commonsense gun safety” meant no training? My Freedom of Access Act Request attempts to find out who’d behind that bit of idiocy.
And I just sent it out this morning:
The state canceled a class on how to clean your AR guns after a handful of people complained to the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife that it was inappropriate in light of the mass shooting in Lewiston, according to a department spokesman. [More]
Because wanting to keep people ignorant about that is just “commonsense gun safety.”
Besides, any resultant “accidents” will only hurt “those people,” and can be exploited to blood dance in!
I was going to tweet this to them but I have an idea… lemme look into it before I say more.

Rep. John Andrews, R-Paris, said his party’s first priority with regard to firearms would be protecting the state and federal rights of gun owners. But he planned to introduce a bill in the coming session he believed would save lives and protect licensed gun sellers at the same time—through a so-called “yellow alert system.” “If someone does something to trigger a statewide alert, FFLs (Federal Firearms Licenses)—or gun dealers—would get a text and a photo—kind of like an Amber Alert,” Andrews explained. “We would call it a yellow alert system—basically telling them, ‘Do not sell to this person. They are either wanted by the police or are in crisis.'” [More]
Do us a favor and stop “protecting” us.

Maine’s top election official rules Trump ineligible for 2024 primary ballot [More]
Does this stupid, evil bitch think her kind can rule without consent of the governed?
Does she not realize there will be consequences, whichever “side wins,” and recall what happened to the Mensheviks if it’s “hers”?
Anybody still believe “commonsense gun safety laws” are the reason Democrats demand disarming the militia of the whole people?
I expect the Supreme Court to put an end to this nonsense, although, as with Bruen, “blue states” won’t give up on testing that.
I also expect such a ruling will be used against them if the Republicans manage to blow ’24.
And this is why the story got snuffed out of the news cycle: there were laws already on the books that could’ve stopped this shooting. [More]
No, there are not. And that’s terrible advice.
The only law that could have is not on anyone’s books.

Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) is putting together legislation to require the U.S. military to adhere to state-level red and yellow flag laws for troops. [More]
Denying them due process and stripping them of a fundamental right is one hell of a way to show appreciation.

If there’s one thing “Authorized Journalists” excel at, it’s attention to detail. Maybe this is another of those AI “hallucinations” we’ve been hearing about…
Funny, how many comment posters, including gun owners, believe “taking his guns away” and leaving him out would actually accomplish anything.
A sign at the door of the bowling alley says, “We kindly ask that you refrain from bringing firearms in this building and we would appreciate it if you left them in your vehicle. Please keep our atmosphere family friendly.” That notice did not stop the suspect from entering and opening fire. [More]
I’d go further and suggest it encouraged him that his chances of success were increased.
A federal judge in California has granted a preliminary injunction in a Second Amendment Foundation challenge of two California statutes prohibiting gun shows at the Orange County Fairgrounds and on state-owned property, while denying a requested stay to allow the state time to file an appeal.
According to the bulletin, citing law enforcement, Card recently reported mental health issues, which included hearing voices and threats to shoot up the National Guard base in Maine. The person of interest was allegedly committed to a mental health facility for two weeks during the summer of 2023. [More]
So who decided someone this abnormally dangerously disturbed was safe to unleash on the rest of us after two weeks?
