Ohio Prohibitionists Counting on Gun Owner Unawareness Over Issue 1

Issue 1 supporters can’t count on getting a fair shake in the media, which increasingly portrays them as “a basket of deplorables” (and that’s being nice). As usual, it’s up to them to educate themselves and spread the word. [More]

If you’re an Ohio gun voter, the only way this will pass is if you get involved and help make it pass.

VCDL TV

I’ll be joining Virginia Citizens Defense League this evening at 8:00 Eastern for their monthly live broadcast. We’ll be talking about prior restraint infringement injustices built into the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) and more.

It can be viewed at VCDL.Tube and Facebook.com/VCDLorg/.

It’s either that or Shark Tank and Real Housewives of Atlanta

Pulling Up AstroTurf

Gun grabbers like New York billionaire Mike Bloomberg bankroll ballot issues that would restrict and seize our constitutional rights. SJR 2, if approved by voters, would raise the bar for passing changes to our foundational document to 60% instead of a simple majority, thereby making it much harder for out-of-state money to force their values upon Ohio. [More]

And naturally, lying Democrats who scream “Home Rule!” whenever they want to undermine preemption or impose new infringements are against Ohioans deciding on their Constitution in the face of outside money pouring in.

Help Wanted, Inquire Within

From GRNC, via email:

Many of you have asked how you can help, even from home and on an as-available basis. Well, our Facebook crew has a suggestion. We need “Social Media Ambassadors” to help extend GRNC’s reach on Facebook. All that is required is that from time-to-time social you will be asked via email to 1). invite people to follow the GRNC page and to 2). like, comment and share targeted posts. In terms of how many people we need, the more the merrier.

If you are interested in being a GRNC Social Media Ambassador, please reply with full contact into to DirectorOfDevelopment@GRNC.org using the subject “Social Media Ambassador.”

Think of it as “Advocacy Media.”

Gun Group’s Financial Dealings With Founder Spark State Investigation [More]

And now, the rest of the story… and I include this link because I want you to read it.

This “investigation” is a pretty naked lawfare/smear attempt to go ad hominem on someone at the forefront of effective Second Amendment legal defense cases to try and derail and harm them. It’s also meant to cause divisions and suspicions within the “gun community” over finances and relationships with other Gottlieb holdings for marketing, rent, and other services, which have never been a secret. SAF/CCRKBA tax filings are available to anyone on Guidestar, and before calling shenanigans, document what those would cost the SAF/CCRKBA nonprofits if they were provided by someone else.

For an impartial third-party opinion, Charity Navigator doesn’t have a dog in this fight. Let’s see what they have to say:

“Good – This charity’s score is 77%, earning it a Three-Star rating. If this organization aligns with your passions and values, you can give with confidence.”

I wonder if it will come out if anyone from out of state, including groups, politicians, and federal agencies, is a silent partner in this.

This isn’t just a knee-jerk reaction on my part. I’ve had some differences with Alan over the years, including some ongoing ones, and am on good terms with people who admire him and with people who can’t stand him, but what’s happening to him here is pure filth by evil interests that want you and me disarmed.

UPDATE

I hope my speculation on silent partners is followed up on because this revelation shows the relationships are baked in.

Anheuser-Busch hires ex-GOP aides to lobby as Bud Light’s Dylan Mulvaney controversy drags on [More]

I don’t give a damn about this inferior beer company and its self-created dumpster fire, but post this to reiterate something we’ve talked about before on WoG, bringing mercenaries into inner circles who don’t share principles.

We’ve seen it before with NRA hiring field reps with no regard to that and see how that plays out. Ain’t that right, Abra?

And who could forget Judas Bob? Or Ryan?

It’s enough to make me wonder if “Democratic donor” William Brewer is the RKBA champ that millions of dollars donated by members say he is — or if there’s a hidden agenda in there somewhere.

Astroturf Abatement Plan

These are the stakes in the effort to raise the voting threshold to 60% to approve changes to the Ohio Constitution. It’s about protecting our rights and shielding our state constitution from big money meddlers so that we’re not subject to the fickle political whims of the moment. [More]

Ohio gun owners: It’s in your interests to get up to speed on this and help.

Stop Me If You’ve Heard This One Before

Recently, Fred Edgecomb, who has been affiliated with both the NRA and its state affiliate, the NC Rifle & Pistol Assoc., was heard claiming credit for passing Senate Bill 41 to repeal NC purchase permits and expand concealed carry into churches sponsoring schools. GRNC members should understand that neither NRA nor NCRPA had any apparent role in passing SB 41. NRA lobbyist DJ Spiker only showed up at the last minute, and we are unaware of any significant action by NCRPA. In truth, it was GRNC volunteers who sent alerts, packed committee meetings, walked legislative hallways, and deluged legislators with input. [More]

Some might call that SOP

The latest GRNC alert requesting support to pass permitless carry is out. All I have is their email and my WoG Placeholder blog didn’t display html right. If I see a working link from GRNC anytime soon I will update this post so those interested can go to where they can see and click on action items.

The People Have Spoken?

A controversial bill to expand gun rights had its third hearing at the Ohio Statehouse on Tuesday. About 80 people submitted opponent testimony, compared to just over 20 who testified in favor of House Bill 51, known as the Second Amendment Preservation Act, last week; opponents said that alone should be a signal of what Ohioans want. [More]

Or it could just mean one side didn’t figure it was necessary for this hearing to push supporters for a huge turnout so the other side, with Astroturf financing and no shortage of unemployed cud-chewers with nothing better to do, decided to play media “Gotcha!”

As for the will of the people, you’ll notice the hearing is about restorations, not prohibitions.

Any bets if you looked deeper that you’d find “Mary Miller” is more than just a random “opponent of the bill”?

Stop Me If You’ve Heard This One Before

What a mess! And this mess is because the NRA is so desperate for relevance that it chose to wing this effort without talking to knowledgeable people in Montana about the idea and effort. [More]

Gary Marbut of the Montana Shooting Sports Association exposes some heavy-handed blundering by the “800-pound gorilla” that failed to coordinate with the locals and account for the state constitution.

It’s not the first state group I’ve heard of with similar complaints. Now that they’re desperate to divert attention away from Wayne and the rubber stamp board and look like they’re doing something relevant, don’t be surprised to see more.

Half Empty or Half Full?

This week marks the halfway point in the 2023 legislative session. “Crossover” refers to the transfer of bills between the House of Representatives and the Senate. All House bills that have survived the committee process will now be considered by the Senate while all Senate bills that are still in play are headed to the House. Then the process starts all over again! [More]

Let’s hope support by gun owners isn’t half-hearted, especially with the swing to the Democrats in Arizona.

We’ll Always Find Reasons Not To

…if you cancel a card, your credit score takes a hit. So….don’t like the card’s policies? Don’t use that card, just retire it to the back of your wallet, or even shred it, but don’t cancel it. [More]

For what it’s worth, I had a card I never used and after a few years the credit card company canceled it.

The thought strikes that if this concern is enough to not even take a small action, what chance is there for larger actions when there’s a larger price to pay?
