Round 2 Redux

Today on Armed American Radio Mark continues the conversation started yesterday with David Codrea on Pam Bondi and her 2A chops or lack thereof. Is she right for gun owners as head of DOJ after her support for Florida’s post Parkland gun control bill? [Listen]

In case you missed it live and want to hear it.

Here’s Round 1.

And my elaborated thoughts on what Donald Trump’s election means for the Second Amendment are here.

We’re the Only Ones Following Protocol Enough

Interacting with citizens under false pretenses and then entrapping them and screwing them over…? I’m trying to figure out where he deviated from standard practices…

A Bit Much

Rock singer says he’s a man again 11 years after coming out as trans woman [More]

So, will he still be “every bit as ‘biologically female’ as cis women”? (And what’s curious here is that while Moms Demand Action decries someone who says stupid sh!+ like that being “silenced,” Google is pretty silent itself on where Zooey Zephyr stands on guns.)

But back to the change of heart– another story points to the danger of decisions made without full consideration of consequences. It makes me wonder how many people don’t realize what a regrettable idea it was until after they’ve jumped from the bridge.

Outside the Box Thinking

In response to President-elect Trump’s immigration plans, some New York Democratic legislators are considering secession from the United States. State Senator Liz Krueger has proposed the idea of New York becoming a new province of Canada, arguing that this move could alleviate Canada’s burden of enforcing illegal border crossings. “It’s not unreasonable to think outside of the box,” said Krueger. [More]

Right, reject every terrible sacrifice that made American unique and great, and return to the king. Funny, how an Opposite Day “progressive” wants to return to the system that was rejected two-and-a-half centuries ago.

There may be unintended consequences for her in this. I’ll do an article for next week to explain.

We’re the Only Ones Unsafe Enough

“The short version is, our headquarters isn’t safe, that’s the bottom line, our headquarters building is not safe and it’s not safe for two reasons,” Mattivi said. “Number one the location. We are in, and I don’t mean to be unkind to anyone, but we’re in a horrible neighborhood. [More]

So Democrat neighborhoods are too unsafe even for armed “Only Ones”…?

We’re the Only Ones Bouncing Enough

There is now video that shows the Trump supporters were not acting violently and had no idea they police were about to start firing rubber bullets at their heads. [More]

I’m looking forward to hearings where Inspector Lloyd and the shooter explain themselves. Under oath.

The Nuclear Option

I think they will, and in a rational world it would be 7 -0. OOPS.

I also think those bringing such suits ought to pay. Bigly.

We’re the Only Ones Unaffected Enough

While the Atmore Four live with the trauma and expense of fighting bogus charges, there have been no repercussions for the DA or sheriff. [More]

Hopefully the civil suit will change that, but it still leaves the question of where the hell AL AG Steve Marshall is on this.

We could ask.

Doing the Pogroms Americans Won’t Do

Chicago prosecutors announced that Sidi Mohamed Abdallahi, a Mauritanian national, who allegedly shot a Jewish man, researched for Jewish targets and had pro-Hamas material on his phone. [More]

Mauritanians in America…? Who’d have ever thought to warn about them…?

We’re the Only Ones Threatened Enough

California Allegedly Threatens Police Officers Over Deportation Compliance – CA mayor: The State of California “is threatening to take pensions and charge police officers with felonies if they comply with federal deportation laws.” [More]

Maybe this will let us see what Pam Bondi is made of, and if she can enforce immigration law, why can’t she enforce the Second Amendment?

An Uncommon Question

I. There is a long-running and intractable dispute in the lower courts over whether the Second Amendment allows the government to ban arms that are in common use by law-abiding citizens. II. Heller clearly teaches that arms in common use by law-abiding citizens cannot be banned. III. This case is an ideal vehicle to resolve this dispute. [More]

What’s to stop “common use” from allowing future developments to be banned?

Daily Defense Redux

Today on AAR Daily Defense, Mark chats with long-time AAR contributor, blogger, and citizen journalist, David Codrea. Topics include the makeup of the Trump cabinet from a gun rights perspective. Mark and David discuss bills likely to move quickly…or not…and then turn attention to Pam Bondi for AG. David is no fan and eloquently articulates the reasons why, including her past support for anti-gun measures in Florida as state AG. Mark counters with analogies and gives her the benefit of waiting out the hearings. She will no doubt be put on the spot during the confirmation process and allowed to articulate her 2A positions moving forward as AG. A lively discussion, so good in fact, that David returns on Wednesday to wrap up his legitimate concerns. [Listen]

My latest Firearms News piece, “Donald Trump and Republicans Owe Gun Owners, and It’s Time to Collect,” elaborates on my position.
